About the Cambodia postal code data

Administrative areas and postal codes come from Prakas No. 77 (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications), published via Open Development Cambodia, combined with an administrative gazetteer for area names and coordinates. Every page shows its verification date. Names are stored in Latin script with the Khmer script shown alongside. URLs use Latin script.

Cambodian postal codes have six digits and follow the pattern PP DD CC: two digits for the province, two for the district, and two for the sangkat or commune.

How district names are romanised

The postal source names each district in Khmer only. Latin district names come from the Ministry of Economy and Finance administrative dataset, joined on the official district code. A small number of newly created districts are sourced from official sub-decrees. No name is machine-transliterated.

How we compile the data

Raw data is normalised into a single layered area structure (province to district to sangkat), then each postal code is linked to its sangkat or commune. Before use, the data passes automated checks, among them: codes must be six digits, every area must have a valid parent, names must not be empty or broken, and the verification date must not be in the future. Pages that do not yet meet the quality bar are not indexed by search engines to avoid confusion.

Updates

The data is a dated snapshot, not real time. When the source publishes a new version, all data is normalised again and boundary changes are recorded as history on the relevant pages.

Limits

If a value cannot be traced to an official source, it is left blank, not guessed. If you find incorrect data, please report it.
