About the Malta postcode data

Locality names, three letter prefixes and coordinates come from GeoNames, published under CC BY 4.0, which permits commercial reuse with attribution. Region groupings follow Malta's six official regions. Every page carries its verification date.

What we deliberately do not publish

A full Maltese postcode is seven characters, such as VLT 1117. Only the three letter locality prefix is available as open data. The four digit half belongs to MaltaPost and is not released in bulk; the one commercial vendor that has it sells access. We therefore publish the prefix, state plainly that we do not have the rest, and point you to the official MaltaPost finder. Reconstructing the missing digits from a pattern would be guessing, and guessed postcodes are worse than none.

Updates

Locality prefixes change rarely. We recheck against GeoNames whenever the site is rebuilt.
