How to write an Oman address

An Oman address is written from the recipient down to the country: the recipient, then the PO Box number, then the area, then the 3-digit postal code with the governorate, and finally Oman. Oman delivers to a PO Box rather than to a street address.

The postal code field: 3 digits

Oman uses a 3-digit postal code, used together with a PO Box. In the code, the first digit marks the region and the last two the post office. Enter the 3 digits in the postal code field, and write the PO Box number and area on their own lines.

The state or province field

Oman has eleven governorates. Enter yours, for example Muscat, Dhofar, or Al Batinah North. If the form does not accept those, enter Oman.

The phone number field

Oman numbers have eight digits and the country calling code is +968. For an international form, write the number as +968 1234 5678.

Common mistakes to avoid

Leaving out the PO Box. Oman delivers to a PO Box, so the box number and the code together route your mail.
Using a facility number as the code. Some directories list sequential facility numbers; the postal code is the 3-digit code shown on the area page.
Writing the area in the postal code field. Enter the 3 digits (e.g. 112); put the area name on its own line.
Forgetting the phone number. Couriers in Oman phone the recipient, so include a +968 mobile number.
