About the Singapore postal code data

Sources

Buildings, roads, and 6-digit postal codes come from the OneMap.sg building directory (Open Data Licence, 2017 snapshot). MRT and LRT station locations come from the RailRouter SG dataset (compiled from LTA and OpenStreetMap), reflecting the current network including the Thomson-East Coast Line. Singapore postal codes are building-level: one code usually maps to a single building.

Each road page groups every building on that road, lists its postal codes, and shows the nearest MRT and LRT stations by straight-line distance from the centre of the road.

How we compile the data

Buildings are grouped by road, and each road is placed in one of Singapore's 28 postal districts using the first two digits of its postal codes. Before use, the data passes automated checks, among them: codes must be six digits, every road must belong to a valid district, names must not be empty or broken, and the snapshot date must not be in the future. Roads that do not yet meet the quality bar are not indexed by search engines.

The nearest-station distance

The distance to the nearest MRT or LRT is the only figure we compute ourselves: a straight-line (haversine) distance from the average position of the buildings on the road. It is not a walking distance or travel time. For a long, winding road the road centre can sit some way from any single building, so treat it as a guide, not a precise measurement.

Updates

The building and postal code data is a dated 2017 snapshot, not real time, so newer buildings and roads may be missing and some entries may be outdated; for anything important, reconfirm the postal code with the building or SingPost. The rail network used for the nearest-station feature is kept current, including lines that opened after 2017.

Limits

If a value cannot be traced to the source, it is left blank, not guessed. If you find incorrect data, please report it.
