About the UAE area data

Sources

Emirates and areas are compiled and cross-checked from public sources: the Dubai Municipality GIS community register and Dubai Statistics Center for Dubai, OpenStreetMap (under the Open Database License) and GeoNames (CC-BY) for the other emirates. Every page shows its verification date. Names are stored in English with the Arabic shown alongside.

The UAE has no postal code

The UAE does not use a postal or ZIP code system. Mail is delivered to a PO Box, not to a street address, so the dataset has no code field. When an online form insists on a postal code, you can leave it blank or enter the widely used placeholder 00000, which is a convention, not an official code. In Dubai, each area also has an official community number from Dubai Municipality, shown on the area page where it is known.

Each area page shows the emirate it sits in, PO Box guidance, a ready-to-paste address format, and nearby areas in the same emirate.

Confidence and indexing

An area is marked verified only when at least two independent sources agree. Areas that rest on a single source are kept for browsing but are not submitted to search engines, so the indexed set stays high-confidence.

Data licence

Part of the area list is derived from OpenStreetMap, which is published under the Open Database License. In line with that licence, the derived dataset is offered on the UAE data page with attribution to OpenStreetMap contributors.

Limits

No postal code is invented; where the UAE has none, the page says so. If a value cannot be traced to a source, it is left blank, not guessed. If you find incorrect data, please report it.
