About the Kuwait postal code data

Sources

Governorates, areas, and postal codes are compiled from public sources and cross-checked. A postal code is a fact, not a creative work, so each area code was confirmed against two or more independent public directories and published only where they agree. Names are stored in English with the Arabic shown alongside.

The hybrid code system

Kuwait uses a hybrid postal system. Each area has a general area code (for example, Salmiya is 20000) which is the code to use on a form. Separate block codes exist for physical delivery (for example, 20001 to 20012), and PO Box holders have their own codes. Every area page shows the general area code as the answer, with the block and PO Box ranges given as extra detail so nothing is hidden.

Current coverage

Each area page shows its general postal code, a ready-to-paste address format, and nearby areas in the same governorate.

How we compile the data

Areas are grouped under one of Kuwait's six governorates. Each code was cross-checked against two or more sources; where sources disagreed, the entry is marked and the consistent code kept. Areas whose code could not be confirmed by two sources were left out rather than guessed. Before use, the data passes automated checks: every area must belong to a valid governorate, codes must be five digits, slugs must be unique, and the snapshot date must not be in the future.

Updates

For anything important, reconfirm the postal code with Kuwait Post or the recipient, since block and PO Box codes vary within an area.

Limits

No code is invented. If a value cannot be confirmed, it is left out, not guessed. If you find incorrect data, please report it.
